Alyx & Jon
2020 has been a rollercoaster of a year, but something that I was incredibly grateful for was the chance to photograph Alyx & Jon’s lovely intimate Barrie Wedding at the Tiffin Centre for Conservation, Holy Spirit Parish, and Common Good Cafe. These two reached out to me a few weeks prior to their special day in August since their original plans for a Vancouver wedding had to be changed around due to covid. We chatted about what they’re looking for via a video call before they flew in from Vancouver to celebrate with their close family and friends here in Barrie in a beautiful, relaxed, intimate wedding.
I snapped some photos of the girls all getting ready at a hotel before meeting up with the rest of the group at Holy Spirit Parish for the wedding ceremony. As soon as I got to the church I grabbed a few quick pics of Jon before the ceremony too – when one side isn’t looking for any getting ready photos I’ll always make sure to at least snap a couple shots of them right before the ceremony begins as well (just so that both sides have a few of those little moments captured before the big moments begin).
Goodness do I ever love the lighting in this church! A+ lighting for photos. After the ceremony we took some family pics in the church before driving to the Tiffin Centre for Conservation just outside of Barrie for the rest of the wedding party photos. Alyx & Jon also spent a few minutes saying private vows to each other in the forest at Tiffin as I captured the moment from a distance.
Their wedding reception took place at Common Good Cafe in Barrie where they shared their first dance as well as dances with their parents and family. It was a wonderful day filled with so many special moments that make me smile to look back on <3
